The Elements: Worcester Hip Hop Through the Ages"

  • Creative Hub's Gallery @ The Aurora 660 Main Street Worcester, MA, 01610 United States (map)

Please join us today for Kick Kreationz Youth Sneaker WOrkshop w/Nu Element!

"The Elements: Worcester Hip Hop Through the Ages" is not your ordinary art gallery exhibit. Rather, it is a multimodal experience that helps to bring to life local hip hop culture through the presentation of historic materials, live performances, and hands-on student workshops led by @therealnuelement. The main level of the Aurora Gallery will showcase a variety of items from the emergence of hip hop in Worcester in the late 1970s down to the present day, featuring the four elements of the culture -- MCing, DJing, b-boying and b-girling, and graffiti. Guests will witness history come to life with the sounds of local hip hop artists mixed by our live DJs @djkidkash and @djkoolchris512, walls covered with items such as CD covers, event flyers, newspaper covers, fashion, and photographs collected by our head archivist @kaz_sn, and a big screen shuffling through a digital timeline project created in collaboration with the @uhhmuseum and students in @professormeganross hip hop classes @collegeoftheholycross revealing aspects of the last five years of local hip hop history.

Special thanks to @creativehubwoo for hosting us @worcesterartscouncil for funding us!
